New Castle Court Docket Searches
Indiana MyCase is the free starting point. It publishes the public Chronological Case Summary, or CCS, for Odyssey courts, and New Castle City Court has been searchable there since its April 7, 2023 Odyssey launch. Pick the court named on your ticket or notice. Choose 33H01 for City Court, or 33C01, 33C02, or 33C03 for a Henry Circuit Court record. A party name works in a pinch. The full case or citation number is safer, though, since New Castle is a place name rather than a court assignment.
- Read the court name and number on the citation, summons, or notice.
- Open MyCase and choose Case, Name, or Attorney search.
- Filter to 33H01 when the record belongs to New Castle City Court.
- Check the CCS for the setting, status, filings, and court contact.
- Confirm the date with the city clerk or Henry County Clerk when anything conflicts.
New Castle Code 33H01
Under Indiana Administrative Rule 8, New Castle City Court carries the identifier 33H01. The 33 stands for Henry County. The H marks a city court. The 01 sets it apart from any other court. Henry Circuit Court numbers start with 33C01, 33C02, or 33C03 instead. One letter makes all the difference in a docket search. Mixing them up is a common New Castle court record mistake.
- 33H01
- Current New Castle City Court.
- 33C03
- Henry Circuit Court 3, which handles most county traffic infractions and misdemeanors.
- CCS
- The dated list of court events that forms the official trial-court record.
Inside the New Castle City Court
The court handles traffic and city-code or ordinance violations. That is the caseload the official New Castle City Court page describes. The court sits on the third floor. Its address is 227 North Main Street. Judge Joseph B. Lansinger appears in the state directory. The city staff directory lists Katie Bennett as Court Clerk. Keep this office separate from Jenny Grubbs and the county Clerk of Courts. She works at the Justice Center. For copies of a city case, City Court is the right stop. The state directory lists 765-521-6824. The city staff directory gives 765-521-6802 for the court office. Two lines are published. So say you need the City Court clerk, and ask which one handles copies.
New Castle Friday Court
The regular city session runs Friday at 1:00 p.m. That weekly rhythm helps you plan. It cannot override the setting on a specific CCS or notice, though. A reset, special order, or case-specific instruction can move your appearance. Write down the date, time, court, and event type from MyCase. Then confirm with City Court.

Finding New Castle Court Dates
A New Castle court date can surface in two places. MyCase lists it as a CCS event. The statewide Court Calendar may show it too. Read the entry itself instead of assuming every city case lands in the Friday session. The event might be an initial hearing, pretrial, trial, compliance setting, or another proceeding. A new CCS entry can also record a continuance.
| Date | The current scheduled date, subject to later court orders. |
|---|---|
| Time | The listed call time, including the regular Friday session when applicable. |
| Courtroom | New Castle City Building, third floor, unless the notice says otherwise. |
| Judge | The judicial officer assigned to the event. |
| Setting Type | The purpose, such as initial hearing, pretrial, trial, or compliance. |
New Castle MyCase History
New Castle City Court joined Odyssey on April 7, 2023, per the Indiana court technology list. That date explains a lot. MyCase is now the public route for New Castle court records. Older entries may not match newer CCS formats. MyCase shows public case events and approved documents. It does not promise every filed page is online, though. When an order or ticket document is missing, request the file from the city court office. Go to the county clerk only for a case number starting with a Henry Circuit Court identifier. You can search MyCase by complete case number, citation or cross-reference number, party name, or attorney. A common name can drag in unrelated Indiana cases, so narrow results by court and filing range. Before relying on an event, confirm the caption, filing date, status, and the 33H01 identifier. The service also caps overly broad results and may require CAPTCHA. One filtered query beats repeated wide ones. If the portal and a paper notice disagree about a hearing, follow the newest court order. Then call the City Court office. The State Hearing Calendar offers another public check. It cannot replace the assigned court's word on a recent reset, cancellation, or special setting.
New Castle Traffic Ticket Lookups
Read the issuing court on the ticket first. A city traffic or ordinance case may carry 33H01. A county infraction can land in Circuit Court 3. Run the citation number through MyCase, then check the CCS for current status. The official city page warns about unsatisfied citations. One may bring an order to appear on an appropriate Wednesday. Payment and contest instructions come from the issuing court alone. Both offices sit in New Castle. That does not mean a City Court payment belongs at the county clerk. When the citation names a Circuit Court, the broader Henry County traffic court record route applies.
New Castle City or County
New Castle wears two hats at once. It is the Henry County seat. It is also a city that runs its own court. City Court takes care of traffic tickets and local ordinance cases. Most county infractions, misdemeanors, small claims, and evictions land in Henry Circuit Court 3 instead. Local assignment rules send other civil and felony matters to Circuit 1 or Circuit 2.
| Number | Likely custodian | Search route |
|---|---|---|
| 33H01 | New Castle City Court | MyCase, then city clerk |
| 33C01/02/03 | Henry County Clerk | MyCase, then Suite 120 |
Which office holds the paper? Start with the court name printed on the citation, summons, order, or CCS. That beats the issuing agency name, and it beats the street address every time. A case with a New Castle address can still carry a county-wide number rather than 33H01. County criminal, civil, family, probate, eviction, and small-claims cases filed inside the city belong to one of the three Circuit Courts. Write the full identifier down before you call either clerk. Staff route questions by number, not location.
Older files need patience. The three unified Circuit Courts moved onto Odyssey in December 2011. New Castle City Court did not join until April 2023. So a thin online history or a converted entry may just reflect that technology gap. That does not mean the official file is empty. When MyCase lacks the document you expected, ask the right office. Ask whether an older paper or converted record still exists.
How New Castle Cases Reach County Court
A New Castle address alone decides nothing. City Court does not take every case that starts inside the city limits. Felonies, county misdemeanors, most civil suits, family matters, probate, small claims, and county traffic cases all go to the Henry Circuit Courts under local rules. The case number settles the question far better than where the event happened.

For county-level routing, the Henry County court docket overview sorts out which court holds which case type. When you want a copy, call the clerk tied to the case number. The closest building is not always the right one.
New Castle Clerk Choice
A 33H01 number means New Castle City Court. Give that office the full number, the party name, and the document or date you need. Numbers starting 33C01, 33C02, or 33C03 belong to Henry County Clerk Jenny Grubbs, reached at 1215 Race Street, Suite 120, by phone at 765-529-6401, or by email at clerkrequests@henrycounty.in.gov. Both offices serve New Castle. That does not make the two clerks interchangeable.
The City Court staff directory lists the city personnel who handle court record requests and shows the right channel before you call.

Check that directory before sending a New Castle court record request to the city office.
When you ask for a document, be precise. Give the exact case number and the event or document title. Include the filing date and how you want it delivered. Say whether a plain copy works or you need a certified one. Ask about the current page, certification, search, mailing, and payment charges before you send any money. Henry County sets no posted flat copy-price sheet or standard local request form. A hearing recording or transcript belongs to the assigned court and its court reporter. It is not an ordinary MyCase download.
Sometimes no PDF exists. MyCase can list a CCS event while the filing itself stays off the screen. That gap does not mean the document is confidential or missing. The clerk can tell you whether an item is public or counter-only. The clerk can also say whether it is stored in an older format or excluded under Indiana's court-record rules.
Who Can See New Castle Court Records
Indiana starts from open access. Rule 5 still excludes confidential material, protected identifiers, sealed items, and anything restricted by statute or court order. MyCase may show a CCS without every document, and a missing online item does not prove no filing exists.
Key Rules:
Access to Court Records Rule 4 presumes public access unless another rule excludes the record.
Rule 5 lists records and data barred from public view.
Rule 9 provides a court process for seeking access to excluded material.
