Henry County Criminal Docket Searches
Indiana MyCase searches the Odyssey records of Henry courts. Coverage includes Circuit Courts 1, 2, and 3, plus New Castle City Court. A complete case number works best. A party name, citation number, cross-reference number, or attorney can also get you there. Remember what MyCase gives you: the Chronological Case Summary, or CCS, not a full criminal-history report.
Pick the Case tab when you know an identifier. With only a defendant name, use the Name tab. Select the likely Henry court or case type to narrow the results. Open a match and confirm the court, status, filing date, and caption before reading the events. If a document icon is missing, give the Clerk the case number, court, event title, and date.
- Search the exact case or citation number first.
- Narrow a name result by first or middle name.
- Confirm the Henry court identifier.
- Read the CCS events in date order.
- Request any available missing document from the Clerk.
Henry Misdemeanors Start in C3
Henry County's approved assignment rules send all misdemeanor filings to Circuit Court 3. That court's official page also covers traffic infractions, small claims, and Level 6 felonies. This broad scope explains why criminal searches so often return a 33C03 prefix. Note the case-type code anyway, because not every C3 matter is criminal.
How heavy is that load? The 2024 official workbook records 1,179 CM filings in C3, against four in C1 and five in C2. Those figures count new filings, not pending cases or outcomes, so choosing C3 can sharpen a misdemeanor docket search while saying nothing about any one person's case.
Criminal Dockets: What They Show
The Henry County CCS lists judicial events in date order. Its entry date can differ from the event date. Header data identifies the court, uniform number, filing date, status, judge, caption, and case type, and each entry's text belongs with any linked order.
| Case number | A format such as 33C03-YYMM-CM-######; this is not a real case. |
|---|---|
| Charge area | Count, charge, Indiana law, offense level, and amendments when public. |
| CCS events | Filing, hearing, counsel, bond, motion, setting, reset, plea, judgment, sentence, and appeal. |
| Financial data | Costs, fines, credits, payments, and a balance that may lag recent transactions. |
| Document link | An approved public image, often a final order or judgment. |
An icon that is missing does not mean nothing happened. Charging papers, discovery, probation records, and support files may sit at the counter or stay restricted, so ask the clerk before assuming a docket entry tells the whole story.
Henry Level 6 Assignment Exceptions
Most Level 6 felony cases land in Circuit Court 2. Local rules, though, assign listed exceptions to Circuit Court 3: check deception, theft, conversion, welfare fraud, unemployment compensation fraud, and habitual-violator driving while suspended. Level 1 through Level 5 felonies are randomized between C1 and C2, and homicide filings alternate between those courts.
The case number controls. A transfer can leave you holding an old notice with a current number that no longer matches. Read the Henry local court rules, then confirm the live CCS instead of guessing a court from the offense name.
Criminal Case Stages on the Docket
The common line is Filing › Initial Hearing › Pretrial › Plea or Trial › Disposition › Sentencing. Motions, bond review, warrants, counsel appearances, continuances, and appeals may add steps. Not every case follows the whole line.
An initial hearing records early court action. A pretrial setting is not proof of a trial. Disposition tells how a count ended, and sentencing states the penalty after conviction, while a reset only changes a date without dismissing anything. Read nearby entries and the latest order together.
Henry Criminal Codes Explained
The Indiana case-type reference supplies the official list. Codes help route a search but never replace the CCS.
- F1 through F6
- Felony levels; Henry uses different assignment rules by level.
- CM
- Miscellaneous criminal, common in C3 but not every misdemeanor label.
- MC
- Miscellaneous case, sometimes used for criminal-related proceedings.
- IF
- Infraction, often traffic related.
- OV
- Ordinance violation, including some city matters.
If a code on the Henry County criminal docket seems unclear, check the charge rows and the assigned court for clues. The Clerk can confirm what the public record actually says.
Henry County Criminal Docket Courts
Henry runs three unified Circuit Courts at the Justice Center. C1 and C2 carry the higher-level felony work. C3 handles misdemeanors, the listed Level 6 exceptions, and many infractions. New Castle City Court, 33H01, separately handles city traffic and ordinance matters.
Jenny Grubbs, Henry County Clerk of Courts, serves C1, C2, and C3 at 1215 Race Street, Suite 120, New Castle, Indiana 47362. The office is open weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Call 765-529-6401 or email clerkrequests@henrycounty.in.gov. For a 33H01 record, use the city court office instead.
When you request a copy, provide the number, court, document or event, date range, and plain or certified preference. Confirm the current fee, delivery method, and payment instructions first.
Henry Criminal PDFs Can Be Missing
Start by copying the court identifier, CCS title, and event date. Then check whether state rules allow that document type online. If it may be public but has no link, email, call, or visit the Clerk. MyCase is the online channel; the clerk counter remains the authoritative local route for copies and balances.
Ordinary copy-request mail and fax steps are not posted, so do not send a blind request. Older or converted records may also lack an online image even when a public paper file exists.
Access Rules for Criminal Dockets
Access Rule 4 starts from public access, subject to Rule 5 and any other law or orders. Remote access stays narrower than courthouse access.
Key rules:
Rule 5 excludes protected juvenile, adoption, mental-health, sealed, and expunged content.
Rule 9 governs verified requests for excluded records.
Indiana Code 35-38-9 governs expungement, which can remove qualifying cases from MyCase.
“Not found” is not proof no case exists. The record may be sealed, expunged, old, outside the selected court, or simply mismatched search data, so ask the Clerk about the lawful channel.
Henry Drug and Veterans Courts
The December 2025 state directory places Henry Adult Drug Court and Veterans Court under Circuit Court 2. They are programs, not standalone search portals. Pull the underlying criminal or MC case number instead.
A public CCS can show a referral, a hearing, an order, or a disposition. Program records sit behind added limits, though. Treatment, assessment, and probation material may not be public, and the assigned case plus the C2 or Clerk channel governs access. Judge Kit C. Dean Crane supervises, with Joni Williams as program director. That roster can shift, so treat the directory as a starting point. Confirm the current route with C2 before relying on an old entry as a hearing notice.
Henry Converted Criminal Events
Henry Circuit Courts joined Odyssey on December 12, 2011. MyCase sometimes tags records carried over from the old system as a converted event. That label is purely technical. It marks a migration, not a filing date. It also is not a new charge.
Check the converted entry against the original event text, the file date, later CCS entries, and any public order. Older paper coverage may not match what appears online. The Indiana State Library county guide points to clerk records, microfilm, newspapers, and county histories for depth. The Henry Clerk still holds the official county case copy.
This matters most in older criminal dockets. A thin online sequence may just reflect migration, not an empty file. When an old and current number both appear, give the Clerk both.
