Run a Henry Docket Search

Start with a name or a case number. A Henry County docket search works from there, and Indiana's statewide public system pulls case summaries from the county trial courts plus the local city court. You can also query by business, citation number, or attorney. The smart move is to search the narrowest detail you trust, then weigh each match by court, filing type, and status. Results may include docket events and approved documents. The clerk still keeps the official record, though. Restricted matters, recently changed entries, and papers not posted online call for a follow-up with the court or clerk.

Name-Based Case Searches

Open Indiana MyCase and pick Search by Name. A last name or exact business name is enough to begin. Add a first name, middle name, or date of birth to narrow a person query. The birth date works as a filter only. It never appears in results. Civil records and some criminal records often lack it, and adding the filter can hide a valid match.

Trailing wildcards allow a starts-with search. A wildcard cannot replace an entire field, and sounds-like searching will not run alongside one. When Henry County results come back too broad, select a Henry court, limit the case type, or apply a file-date range. That range tracks initial filing dates, not hearing dates. The Henry County case search works best when each filter earns its place.

  1. Select Search by Name.
  2. Enter a last name or business name.
  3. Add first or middle name only as needed.
  4. Choose a Henry court or case type to narrow.
  5. Compare court, type, status, and file date.
  6. Open the matching Chronological Case Summary.

Henry MyCase Has Three Search Tabs

MyCase splits its searches into Case, Name, and Attorney tabs. Each tab takes one kind of identifier. The Case tab wants a case number, citation number, or cross-reference number; the Name tab takes a person or business; the Attorney tab accepts an attorney number or a last name paired with a first or middle name. Mixing identifiers across tabs gains you nothing.

Indiana MyCase search tips for Henry County docket searches

These tips matter most when a spelling, a wildcard, or a wide date range pulls the wrong set of Henry County court records.

Case Number Searches

A full Henry County number is the cleanest route into a docket. Rule 8 breaks it into court, filing month, type, and sequence. Current county court identifiers are 33C01, 33C02, and 33C03. New Castle City Court uses 33H01. MyCase forgives omitted hyphens and leading zeroes in the last group.

A pattern like 33C03-YYMM-IF-###### is just an illustration, not a real case. Always use the identifier printed on a notice, filed paper, ticket, or clerk document. The system also searches case-number history. So a transferred case can come back under a current number that differs from what you typed.

Indiana Administrative Rule 8 defines the full format. Henry's former identifiers 33D01, 33D02, 33E01, and 33I01 are abolished. Older court records may still carry those historical references, though.

Henry Court Selector Narrows Results

The Court dropdown is dynamic. Henry options cover all three Circuit Courts plus New Castle City Court. Choosing one cuts confusion between parties with similar names. The available case-type limits shift with the court you pick. Leave the selector broad and your results may sweep in courts outside Henry County. Appellate cases may join them too.

Local assignment offers another check on a Henry County court docket. Small claims, small-claims evictions, misdemeanors, and most traffic infractions land in Circuit Court 3. General civil types go to Circuit 1 or 2. Higher felony assignment follows separate rules. Treat allocation as a clue only. Reassignment can happen, and the live case header names the controlling court.

Best practice: Narrow with the court only when there is a sound reason. A wrong court filter can remove the correct result.

Case Search Results Explained

A public result can open a case header and its Chronological Case Summary, the CCS. The header holds the case number, court, filing date, and case type. Caption, status, judge if shown, disposition, and related-case indicators appear there too. Entries run in date order. They may list filings, notices, settings, orders, payments, or the disposition. Each line records what happened in the Henry County court docket for that case.

HeaderCourt, number, file date, type, caption, status.
PartiesPublic names, roles, and counsel where allowed.
CCS eventsFiled papers, court action, settings, and orders.
DocumentsIcons for approved remotely accessible copies.
FinancialCosts, payments, and balances when available.
DispositionJudgment, dismissal, conviction, transfer, or other end status.

A displayed financial balance may lag behind recent interest or transactions. The Henry County Clerk controls the current official balance and certified record. A document icon opens that one item; it does not prove the whole file is online.

Henry Citation Numbers Are Different

A citation number is not a Rule 8 case number. Formats vary. MyCase usually needs the exact value stored in Odyssey. Enter it under the Case tab as a citation rather than in the case-number field. A cross-reference number can be an older or agency identifier. It too demands an exact value.

When a ticket search fails, try the later court case number. Do this if one has been assigned. A name search with a court filter can also surface the case. Then call the Henry County Clerk or New Castle City Court. The right office depends on which court the ticket names. Never assume the location of the stop tells you which court now owns the case.

Two Ways to Search: County and State

MyCase is the statewide public front end for Odyssey courts. It covers the Henry Circuit Courts and New Castle City Court in one place. Public-access rules still apply. Henry County runs no separate public case-search database. The county channel is the Clerk of Courts. That office maintains the official Circuit Court records and helps with missing documents, certified copies, and corrections.

Find the clerk at Suite 120, Henry County Justice Center, 1215 Race Street, New Castle, IN 47362. Call 765-529-6401 or email clerkrequests@henrycounty.in.gov. Give the case number, court, event title, range, delivery contact, and copy type. For a current hearing, call the assigned court as well.

Henry Search Limits and CAPTCHA

MyCase caps any result set at 1,000 cases. A common name hits that ceiling fast. So does a wide filing range. Narrow things down with a first name, court, case type, status, or tighter filing dates. Expect a CAPTCHA after repeated Henry County docket searches. Indiana blocks automated data mining, and the public interface offers no bulk export control.

Repeated public queries are not how compiled information works; Rule 9(F) governs that instead. A single Henry County file belongs with the local clerk. MyCase runs on the latest two versions of major browsers, though not Internet Explorer. Indiana posts system notices for MyCase, Odyssey, public.courts, and e-filing on its court technology page.

The official MyCase help center covers access and browser expectations.

Which Cases Stay Restricted

Indiana Access to Court Records Rule 4 presumes public access. Rule 5 then carves out exceptions. Juvenile, adoption, and mental-health cases can be withheld. So can protected identifying data, sealed material, and some expunged records. Partial withholding is allowed too. A granted expungement may pull a criminal or juvenile case from MyCase. It depends on the case type. Parties get a wider view. An Indiana Courts account with an access code can show a party more of a case. The Courts Portal gives counsel of record broader document access. Neither route makes excluded material public. Anyone seeking an excluded record must use the verified Rule 9 procedure. It has standards the requester must meet.

No result does not prove no case exists. Check spelling, court, date filters, transfer history, and access limits before asking the clerk to verify the record.

When Henry Search Should Stop

Know when to quit. Stop changing search terms when a known case stays absent, a current setting conflicts with a notice, a document event has no PDF, or a certified copy is required. Save what you found and contact the record holder. Circuit Court matters go to the Henry County Clerk by phone, email, mail, or in person. A 33H01 matter belongs with New Castle City Court.

MyCase warns it is not the official record. Errors and omissions can appear. Give staff the first court named in a result, the CCS event title and date, and the document you want. Hearing date concern? The Henry County court schedule process gives priority to the newest notice and direct confirmation from the court.
